MUJERES QUE CORTAN Y PEGAN

Normalmente parto de una idea o de una imagen que he previsualizado en mi cabeza, y busco resolverla de la manera que tengo en mente. A la hora de elegir las imágenes rebusco entre revistas, fotografías y demás imágenes que tengo a mano, cuando no doy con las imágenes que quiero, busco en la red hasta dar con las adecuadas, en este caso suelo acceder a bancos de imágenes libres de derechos. Otras veces surgen las obras por si solas, veo una fotografía interesante, normalmente de una persona que me sugiere una escena alternativa y voy probando hasta que logro una obra final redonda.

A parte del collage, la pintura es la técnica que más uso, suele aportarme otra textura, otra dimensión y le aporta ese toque de fantasía que busco.

El collage aporta algo mágico a las imágenes, las dota de otra dimensión, me fascina como al juntar elementos diferentes surgen nuevas imágenes que hablan por si solas. Y como imágenes destinadas a algo concreto pueden resurgir en una obra nueva.

Mis referentes son muchos. Artistas como Esther Ferrer, Yayoi Kusama, Eulalia Valdosera, Carmen Calvo, Chema Madoz, y un sinfín de creadores que me inspiran y me sorprenden, además de los artistas de mi generación, con ideas frescas que reafirman el talento actual y denotan una sensibilidad increíble. 

Los temas son de tono onírico, escenas surrealistas que superan la realidad y trasladan los personajes a otra dimensión.

Me interesa el concepto del tiempo, la naturaleza, el individuo, los límites tanto físicos como imaginarios que definen el comportamiento social.

Me siento inspirada por la gente que me rodea, familia, amigos, por libros, películas, exposiciones…

Ahora mismo no hay nada concreto a la vista además de proyectos personales en los que estoy inmersa a fondo. Actualmente estoy desarrollando un proyecto en el que reflejo la desnaturalización a la que nos enfrentamos.

Adriana Gurumeta is a collage artist born in Madrid in 1987. She has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Cuenca (Spain).

I started working with collage about three years ago. I felt the need to translate and solve the ideas that were hanging around my head, and what I had most at hand at that time were images of magazines, postcards, papers … What started as a game ended up being a discovery and I went aware of the force that comes from the works.

I usually start from an idea or an image that I have previewed in my head, and I try to solve it in the way I have in mind. When choosing the images I browse among magazines, photographs and other images that I have on hand, when I do not have the images I want, I search the network until I find the right ones, in this case I usually access banks of free images. Other times the works arise by themselves, I see an interesting photograph, usually of a person who suggests an alternative scene and I am trying until I achieve the perfect work. Apart from collage, painting is the technique I use the most, it usually gives me another texture, another dimension and gives it that touch of fantasy that I look for.

Collage brings something magical to images, gives them another dimension. It fascinates me as when putting together different elements, new images emerge that speak for themselves. And as images destined to something concrete can resurface in a new work.

The themes are oneiric, surreal scenes that surpass reality and transfer the characters to another dimension. I am interested in the concept of time, nature, the individual, the physical and imaginary limits that define social behavior. I feel inspired by the people around me, family, friends, books, movies, exhibitions …
